The top airline in India, IndiGo, has added flights to Bali, Indonesia, another popular travel destination, as it continues to grow its international network. The airline's newest route, Bengaluru-Denpasar, highlights its dedication to providing popular travel routes and demonstrates its flexibility in meeting demand.
The well-known Indian low-cost airline IndiGo has announced that it will launch service from Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia on March 29, 2024. This development is in line with IndiGo's overall plan for worldwide growth, as the service is based in Bengaluru, South India.
Within IndiGo's vast 6E network, Denpasar will rank as the 33rd international and 119th overall destination. On the airline website, reservations are now being accepted for the Bengaluru-Denpasar route. Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo's Head of Global Sales, was enthusiastic and said,
"We're excited to present Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia's vibrant center, as the newest member of the 6E network. Bali has been a popular travel destination due to its simplified visa application process. At IndiGo, we're unwavering in our resolve to offer the best possible connectivity and accessibility. We hope that the introduction of these new flights will enhance tourism, foster possible economic partnerships, and fortify relations between India and Indonesia."
India is a highly attractive travel destination for Indians. But there weren't many direct airline alternatives available between the two nations until lately. Indian tourists frequently had to endure protracted layovers in major Southeast Asian cities like Singapore or Hong Kong.
Full-service airline Vistara recognized the market in December and began operating daily flights from New Delhi to Bali. Indian travellers are looking for beach resorts throughout the winter, and Bali is at the top of their list.
With more than 60% of the Indian market, IndiGo is expanding internationally via a variety of tactics, such as establishing codeshare agreements, wet leasing aircraft, and launching new routes. The airline has demonstrated its strong financial performance with its sixth consecutive quarter of profit, indicating a strong rebound from the financial pressures caused by the COVID-19 epidemic.
IndiGo announced an INR 30 billion ($361.4 million) after-tax profit for the quarter that ended on December 31, 2023. In comparison to the same period last year, it saw a 23.4% increase in passengers carried and a 26.8% increase in capacity during same time.
